1st Ballet Class

Arden’s first dance class turned out very well.  She’s been super excited about her ballarina skirt and shoes for quite a while, so I was a little apprehensive that she’d get overwhelmed.  The class is half ballet and half gymnastics, meeting once a week for half an hour.

Right off the bat, my little monkey had to dangle and swing on the barre, setting a trend for the other little girls to follow.  I have to imagine this is nothing new to the teachers.

She then started tearing back and forth with a couple of other girls before the class began.

She had a little trouble joining in for the motions to Wheels on the Bus, but then enjoyed walking in a circle on her tippy-toes.

Demonstrating first position.  Everyone was supposed to make pizzas with their feet.  I wonder if the teachers get that most kids this age are eating their food already cut into little pieces by Mom or Dad!  It sank in better when they said to make their “heels kiss”.

Halftime snack.  Keep in mind this class is half an hour long!

Gymnastics time!  We missed a little of this part due to a potty break, but kudos to Arden for telling me she needed to go.

Arden really came into her element when the teacher asked for somebody to go first for forward rolls.  She’s been doing somersaults for a while and I think she was the only one who could do it on her own.

So she kept on doing them….

And doing them….

A couple more….

Just one more!  She doesn’t really pay attention to where she’s going to land, so ended up in the teacher’s lap at the end a couple of times.

I think her favorite part might have been the sucker at the end, though.  I took 175 photos, but only shared the best ones where the other little girls’ faces aren’t clearly photographed.  For the most part, all the girls did really well.  There were a couple that had rough starts or crying spells during parts, and the little one in the black and white leg warmers kept escaping the classroom!  The little blonde in the black leotard was a really good listener; I wonder if she’s a little bit older?

Super fun, and my legs are a bit sore from kneeling down and then hauling my preggo body back upright over and over!
