KCWC: Day 6

I gave a little hint yesterday about what I was planning to work on today.  I pulled a couple of pages out of the latest Mini Boden catalog and showed them to Arden.  She wholehartedly approved this “fluttery” tee with butterfly appliques all over it.

Pardon the grainy and harsh photos – picture taking at 10 pm does not lend itself to beautiful images.  I had thoughts of making a t-shirt out of my “to be refashioned” bin, but I found a simple pale turquoise tee at Target and saved a step.  The rest was pretty straightforward – cut out little butterflies from felt (thanks again Ellen!), and a few from orange denim, and then sit down where I could with some DMC floss and a needle.  A couple of french knots on the antennae and it’s all done!  I’m not sure without seeing the Boden version in person what their butterflies were made of, but likely a thinner weight felt; the denim looks closer to the image.

Hopefully, I’ll be able to grab some modeled images in the next day or so…  I’ve got another Mini Boden knockoff planned for tomorrow, let’s see if I can whip it out – this one involves drafting a pattern as well as sewing it up.

This is so cute! I love “3D” clothing. I’ll have to put it on my to-do list for my daughter. I co-host a weekly link party that runs from Tuesday to Thursday. I would love for you to stop by and link this up, if you have time. Have a great week!

This was on my radar to make for my little girl after seeing the Mini Boden catalog! Yours turned out darling. Curious if you used any backing under the butterflies to stabilize?

HI! Darling job! I’ve had this DIY on my To-Do list since I viewed the Mini Boden catalog. I am curious if you used any stabilizer under the butterflies? Thanks!
