Project Run and Play Sew Along Recap

For the past month and a half, Mondays have been the day I share my project for the weekly challenge for the Project Run & Play sew along.  It almost feels odd not to have a new dress or outfit to share given that it’s Monday.  So here’s a little recap of Arden and Hadley’s new wardrobe with some notes about how they’re being used:

Week 1 – The Party Dress Remix:  Arden has worn this to preschool several times.  She really likes that the skirt is long and twirly.  I like that it’s a sweater on top so it keeps her warm.

Week 2 – Stripes & Polka Dots:  This little Skipper Dress has been worn at least once each washing cycle.  I’m really hoping to scale this pattern and digitize it as my first pattern offering.  Anyone want to help?  I feel like I’m spinning my wheels on the digitizing part.

Week 3 – Boy’s Challenge:  This little grandpa cardigan got tons of wear while we were still in Florida during chilly mornings and evenings.  It’s getting worn here in Michigan as well, but it seems like we use it more like a light coat than a sweater.  I still don’t know how it washes as it’s survived clean so far…

Week 4 – Love is in the Air: The matching skirts are adorable and have been worn some.  Arden is very much into wearing dresses right now and some days I cannot get her to wear a skirt even if it’s twirly AND has a heart embroidered on it.  I’m hoping that it falls back into favor during warmer weather.  Hadley doesn’t have a fashion opinion so she’s worn it a few times but I should have made the waist a little fuller as it’s difficult to get over her chunka chunk thighs combined with her gDiapered tush.  The dollies love their skirts and wear them nonstop!

Week 5 – Men’s Dress Shirt: I love this little wrap dress, but as I said when I first posted about it, I couldn’t make the skirt as long as I wanted because I was using a shirt for the yardage and it’s too short for Arden to wear it without leggings.  I said she’s into dresses, but for some reason that also translates to tights and tights only underneath so she refuses to wear this for the time being.  I would happily send Hadley to daycare in it except for the white bodice.  I think when the weather gets warmer I can convince Arden to wear it with capri leggings or shorts underneath.

Week 6 – Signature Look: Arden wore this to the Daddy Daughter dance and then again to her preschool Valentine’s Party where she got some maple syrup on it so it’s currently in the wash.  I’m planning to launder it inside out inside a lingerie bag and hope for the best with the sequins.  She loves wearing this dress and I love that she loves it!

** Edited to add **  I just found out this morning that I won the sew along for the Signature Look! I get to choose a pattern from two great designers – See Kate Sew and Shwin Designs!!  I think I’ll let Arden choose because I don’t think I’ll be able to decide on my own.

Congrats on the win this week! I just love the outfits you’ve come up with this season! I hope you get that pattern for the sweet skipper dress up. I wish I could offer you help with digitizing it, but I have no idea how to do it.

Congrats! I have loved all of your entries. We’ve been wearing all of ours too. The first weeks is our most popular and I have to pry my child out of it to wash it! 😀

[…] I tried out for Season 6, and made a deal with myself that I would create looks for each of the challenges even if I didn’t make it as a contestant.  Obviously I didn’t make it or we wouldn’t be having this conversation now!  I did however, satisfy my bargain with myself and created the following six looks: […]
