Kid’s Clothes Week and Other Stuff

KCWC

Are you sewing for Kid’s Clothes Week?  I usually try to participate, but this week it just wasn’t in the cards.

I’m on my first ever trip to Massachusetts to learn more about my new job (same company, different position).  I’m about 90 miles west of Boston which definitely puts the recent bombing at the Boston Marathon front and center in my mind.  I’ve completed six marathons and the idea of confronting that scene at the culmination of such a big day makes me nauseous.  On any day for that matter…

Aren’t we cute?  This was a hurriedly composed family portrait taken on our front porch using a tripod and timer.  Not too shabby, eh?  Sometimes I work better when I don’t have time to overthink.  We needed a current (read = without Christmas decor in the background) photo as part of the big deal that I’ll be sharing with you soon.

One more thing that struck me today.  Maybe this is obvious to all of you, but I was reading this week’s Etsy Success post titled Top 5 Tips for Getting Press and the article kept referring to bloggers alongside publishers.  Then it hit me – I am a publisher!  Am I the only blogger that wasn’t getting this?  Maybe it’s because I already have a hard time identifying with “writer” as a label for myself.  I mean, I make stuff and talk about it – is that really enough to call myself a writer?  Maybe so.  Hubby Dave has encouraged me several times to submit to local lifestyle magazines and I’ve just brushed it off.  Maybe he’s on to something?
