The Lost Arts of Sewing: A Series by A Jennuine Life

Beginning on May 20 and running through May 31, 11 fabulous sewists and I will be bringing you the lost arts of sewing.  We’re talking embroidery, smocking, and some techniques of which I hadn’t previously heard!

The lovely ladies who’ve graciously agreed to partner with me for this series are friends I’ve met through competitions, sew-alongs, and just plain old blogger admiration.  Some are well-known, and others might be your new favorite artisans to follow.  They are:

Michelle from Falafel and the Bee
Liz and Elizabeth from Simple Simon & Co.
Al, Jo, and Scary from Shaffer Sisters
Heidi from Greendoodle
Ashley and Emily from FrancesSuzanne
Vanessa from Designs by Sessa

Each day we’ll share a different project or technique with a little sewing history lesson thrown in for fun.  We’ll also have a linky party and Flickr group if you’d like to join in – maybe even a prize?  There’ll also be at least one giveaway, so be sure to pop in and follow along!

Here’s a button if you’d like to spread the word:

I am always saying this very thing! I see so many old sewing machines at garage sales and always comment on what a lost art it is. Hopefully this will spark some interest in sewing again!
