Kid’s Clothes Week: LOL Swing Top

Yeah, I know I’m late to the party!  In my defense I did sew this within the time frame of the summer challenge for Kid’s Clothes Week but I wasn’t able to edit and upload the photos because we lost our data line for several days after a powerful thunderstorm blasted through our city.  Trees and branches down all over the place after a ten minute storm!!

The pattern is self-drafted.  I love the breezy, swingy shape!  The fabric is Liberty of London Tana Lawn Hello Kitty Apple Tree Pink I purchased on clearance from Fabric.com.

I LOVED working with this fabric and I wish I had made one for me – it’s so nice and soft and drapey!  I called it LOL Swing Top because of the Liberty of London fabric, but it does make me Laugh Out Loud at how cute it is!

Now, if only I hadn’t been cutting the pattern pieces late at night (and perhaps while drinking a glass of sangria…) and cut the directional fabric upside-down!  Oh, well – it’s rightside-up to Arden when she looks down at it!

This was about two hours of the challenge to draft and sew this.  What do you think – should I put this in the hopper for potential pattern offering?  I have at least two dresses I want to work on, and I think this top would be cute as well.

I was sewing for kids for at least an hour a day the rest of the week, but I am pattern testing for another designer so I can’t share any of that – you’ll have to wait until the pattern is released, but you’re gonna love it!!

I say late night with a touch of alcohol is the only way to cut out fabric. Love the top and the way it swings around is too fun. I vote to offer it as a pattern.
