Sew This Look: Gucci Girls Fall

Do you get catalogs or browse fashion websites and see outfits that you love?  Do you also look at the prices and then glance at your sewing machine and think “I could make that”?

I’ve bee thinking those thoughts for some time and thought I’d introduce what I hope will become a regular feature here at A Jennuine Life.  I’ll share a designer look and sewing patterns or tutorials showing how you can make a similar look on your own.

The first target is this adorable toddler girls’ look from Gucci.  The jaguar shearling collar coat is $795 and the sweater dress retails for $285.  I don’t know about you, but I’m not willing to shell out nearly $1,100 to outfit my daughters, no matter how cute they’d be!

Using patterns and tutorials, you can sew the Gucci look for a small fraction of the cost.

The Bubblegum Coat from See Kate Sew is markedly similar – just use animal print faux fur for the collar and add some pockets to the bodice and it would be identical.

Heidi & Finn have a pattern for a Cowl Neck Dress or you could add a turtleneck to my Thrifty to Nifty Sweater Refashion tutorial and I think you could create a very similar dress.

I hope to continue this feature on a regular basis, and I’d love to try to find patterns or tutorials to Sew This Look from your favorites as well.  If you have fashions for your kids or yourselves you’d like me to try to dissect, send them my way:  jennuinedesign@gmail.com.

I always find myself saying “I can sew that”. So I love this series! I have an entire Pinterest board full of clothing inspiration for my kids (and myself) and not enough time to sew it all!

Great! I’m following you now and re-pinned a bunch of looks onto my Sew This Look board. I’m looking for things with several pieces to recreate and preferably from a retail store.

Cute! What a great idea! I have had this darling little girls outfit from Nordstroms pinned for ages, and I would love to see you dissect it! http://www.pinterest.com/pin/35254809554162649/ it’s one of my most popular pins, because it’s seriously darling, but I don’t think they sell the shirt or cardigan anymore. This is such a great idea for a series!
