Tinkerbell & Cheese Mouse Halloween

Tinkerbell and Cheese Mouse made for a successful Halloween 2013.  I shared the construction of the various pieces of the Tinkerbell costume previously, and now I’ll show you the costumes in action as well as the details for the cheese mouse costume.
The timing of the prelude Halloween festivities had me on a stock count in West Virginia for work, so I didn’t get to see the entire Tinkerbell costume until its second outing.  I was pleasantly surprised with how adorable it is on Arden, if I do say so myself!  Our preschool hosted a Halloween party and since both sets of grandparents are visiting they both came for the fun.  Here Arden is posing with Grandma Sunshine, aka my Mom.  Isn’t she a cute witch?
Tinkerbell toes…
Hadley, being two, wasn’t much into getting into her costume.  At first…

She warmed up to the idea with some hugs and snuggles from Grandpa Fishy, aka my Dad.  He’s sporting his ponytail hat as his costume, so I guess that makes him a retiree from Florida, which he is.

Hadley ventured to the big kid’s side for a while and entertained herself for quite a while with crayons and glue sticks.
The mouse costume is based on Simplicity 2506, which I used previously on a cow costume for a friend’s son.  I learned from that costume to do some of the steps my own way, such as a zipper instead of hook & loop tape and I eeked out a little extra length by using smaller seam allowances through the inseam as well as adding ribbed cuffs to the leg instead of elastic.  I modified the hat to be more of a Nordic shape and added the yarn ties instead of a strap fastening under the neck.  The cow hat didn’t fit very well so I knew adjustments were needed.  This version is much better, but the back still could drop down more
Even with some adjustments still required to be a perfect fit, it’s adorable!
Then we had dance class with a costume parade and goody exchange.  Hadley recommends the seasonal caramel Tootsie Pops!
For the main event – Trick or Treating, it was drizzly so the Winter Woods coat did prove useful.  We forgot to add back the wings for the first two houses, so I had to trot back and retrieve them.
Both Arden and Hadley thoroughly enjoyed themselves.  Arden would often get candy for the both of them and Hadley would do this adorable happy candy dance and wiggle her little mousie tail while chanting “chock-ate!”.  Others must have agreed with how cute she was because she got extra pieces of candy on more than a few occasions!
Did your costumes work out as you had hoped?  Did you kids have fun?

Such cute costumes! Of course, I’ve already said how much I love them on instagram, but they are just darling. The little mouse suit is just great!
