Dance Recital Weekend 2014

This past weekend I was busy with dance recital for Arden and Hadley.

Hadley Dance 1

This was Hadley’s first dance recital, and I am so proud of how she performed!

Hadley Dance 4

She got right on stage and (mostly) did the routine, which really is saying a lot for a bunch of two and three year-olds.  Hadley was just shy of two when she started, so she’s one of the very youngest in her class, though you can’t tell from her size compared to the rest.

She even sat nicely for me to put in these crazy little buns for each performance.  I usually do twisties and I’m done in less than a minute, but these suckers involved dozens of bobby pins and two little hair nets to keep them in place and they’re still not perfect.

And for fun, a little video from the dress rehearsal.  Hadley is third from the left.

Arden Dance 2

Arden is now a seasoned pro, with this being her third recital.  She was in two routines - Do You Want to Build a Snowman? and Animal Crackers.  I only took photos in the Anna costume from the Frozen routine, but I’ll embed a video from each rehearsal below.

Arden Dance 1

Arden loves being on the “big stage” and seems to really have the routines down well.

It wouldn’t be a photo shoot with my little monkey without some jumping!

Arden Dance 3

I have a feeling we’ll be seeing a lot of this costume.  Maybe even Halloween, which will get me off the hook for sewing something!

I apologize for the blurriness at the beginning.  I was using my DSLR to take videos and I wasn’t practiced at setting the focus before beginning to film.  Arden is fourth from the left in the video.

And this is Animal Crackers.  Arden is the bear in red and brown in the back row.

So, amazingly fun and exciting, but majorly tiring!  I brought a babysitter to help out for the Sunday performance, and that helped out soooo much!  Thanks Tiala for hanging out in all the crazy with me!
