Changing Times

Has anyone noticed I’ve been a bit MIA lately? I have a good reason for it, I promise!

Yup, we’ve listed our house for sale so I’ve literally been spending every. spare. moment. (and some un-spare moments as well) organizing, decluttering, painting, touching up, staging, un-stinking etc.

Cutting Table

My wonderful cutting table?  That’s stored up in our garage loft and the dining room table is back in it’s place.  I was able to negotiate keeping my sewing machines out and handy, but it’s back to cutting all stooped over for me.

Where are we headed?  No, not NYC, but very close – New Jersey!  Dave took a job with a company in New Jersey so we’ll all be joining him there as soon as we find a house in the Garden State.  We made a quick trip together to try to get a feel for the area and see some homes.  We put an offer in on one home, but were sorely outbid.  The market in NJ is a whole different game than here in Michigan.

It’s scary, exhilarating, exhausting, and exciting all at once.  I’m looking forward to the proximity to NYC and the garment district (read cool fabrics and design houses) and I was pleasantly surprised at how nice New Jersey was.  Arden will begin Kindergarten and Hadley Preschool today as planned, and then hopefully we’ll be in a new school system by the holidays.

Expect things to continue to be a little on the quiet side, but I do have some fun events and series coming up!

That’s so exciting! The New York area housing market is something to behold, isn’t it? We didn’t have any experience with it when we moved here (we were renting in Montreal and bought a house in Westchester county, just north of NYC) and it was quite the education. But it’s a fun place to live. Lots of activities to do.

Wow! That’s so exciting…and scary. I remember how crazy it was when we moved from Philly to DC. Finding a house is hard enough, but then we had to find all new grocery stores, libraries, dentist, etc. It’s a bit overwhelming as first, but I’m sure you guys will love it when you finally get settled in. Good Luck! Can’t wait to hear all about your new house!

What a great adventure. NYC is somewhere I have visited twice and wouldn’t mind visiting again. My last trip I went to China Town and unpurposely bartered for a necklace set and purposely bartered for a tie deal for my husband.
My brother in law has lived on NJ for the last two years and he has loved it.

Doing the same thing! My husband has been working in New Jersey at his new job for past four months and coming home to Saratoga Sorings, NY each weekend. As soon as our house sells here, we will be off to NJ ( Bergen County). I love your positive attitude! The housing market is a force for sure, not looking forward to paying more for half the house we have now and double the taxes!

Well, we’ll be neighbors then! We’re looking in Bergen and Essex counties, particularly focusing on Fair Lawn, Montclair, Glen Ridge, Verona. Nutley and Wayne.
