Happy Home Fabric Tour

HH-BLOG-TOUR

I don’t think I’ve ever spent this much time petting a fabric as I have the lovely material from the Happy Home fabric line by Caroline Hulse for Art Gallery Fabrics.  I pestered Caroline to let me join the fabric tour, and boy am I glad I did!

This is Caroline’s second line of fabrics, and as much as I enjoyed Gleeful, I am even more excited about Happy Home!

Happy Home Collage

There are two color ways: Welcome Fun and Welcome Love.  There are a total of four knits and a voile and all twenty designs are also printed on Art Gallery’s pima quilting cotton.  There are also two border prints – aren’t those fun?!

Satya Romper 6

I chose the voile to work with for my project.  It has such a light and soft hand, but it presses so crisply – truly a pleasure to work with.  I love the Table Flowers Cheer print for this substrate because voile can be pretty sheer; the navy blue background made it much more opaque.  Another bonus is the flowers in pink, coral, purple and blue satisfied my six year old’s yearning for a pastel color palette without being juvenile.

The pattern is my own, and I am so pleased with how it has turned out!  I love rompers on kids so much but I’m pretty picky about them.  They must be able to get them off and on on their own.  It’s called the Satya Romper and I’m planning to make this into a pattern for sale just as soon as I can get it ready.  Watch for it!

Satya Romper 3

It’s the pockets that set the style for the romper – simple half-elipses at the front waistband and mimicked at the neckline.

I used fold-over elastic for the straps and a lightly gathered back.  Easy as pie for either of my daughters to get on and off.  Arden (pictured) is six and Hadley is three.

Satya Romper 2

I just love the colors and drape of this fabric and it worked amazingly for this pattern.  I have about a fat quarter left over that I think I’ll try to use as an accent for myself.  I really want to try out the knits from this line as well – I used the Springs Sun from her Gleeful line here and that was some of the nicest knit with which to work.

Satya Romper 1

Above all my waxing poetic about the fabric and my design is that Arden loves her new romper!  Once photos had been taken and she’d been given the green light to wear it she happily wore it to her summer enrichment program the very next day!

It looks so good! That neckline is perfect cause it doesn’t detract from the adorable pockets. I love it!

Hurray for rompers! I’ve been looking for perfect specimens and they are just so hard to find. Looking forward to seeing this in a pattern by you.
