First Day of School 2015

It’s here!  The much-anticipated FIRST DAY OF SCHOOL!  We joined in with pretty much every family everywhere to make our attempt at Pinterest-worthy first day photos.  And the result?  Some close to that bar and others just a little silly:

First Day of school outtake

Hadley is always hamming it up, so I just told them to get their sillies out and got this great shot of my two crazy girls.

Hadley first day 2015 Title

A little summary seemed like something I could repeat each year and capture a few factoids about each of them.

Hadley always requests a dress to wear, and her first question is “does it twirl?”.  So far she accepts that all dresses twirl if she does.  She would eat yogurt at every meal if we would allow it.  She’s so full of healthy cultures and probiotics – maybe that’s why she’s so tall?  Her favorite locomotion is dancing and leaping, all of which requires a constant audience.

The preschool program she’s in has two years: three year olds and four year olds.  The school system cut-off date is October 1.  Hadley will be four on October 3.  So not only is she off the charts tall, she’s also the oldest kid in the three year old class.  She fits right in with Arden’s first grade class when we line up.  This should be interesting.

I’m excited to have a couple of hours in the morning to myself, but so far they’re going WAAAAY too fast!

Arden first day 2015 Title

I mentioned Arden’s glasses in the post about the Paneled Sunsuit she’s wearing.  She’s only had them a couple of months and is still getting used to wearing them.  She would prefer not to wear them, particularly when it’s warm out and her nose starts to sweat.  She accessorized with a headband she made with her friend Katie while we were traveling back from a visit to Michigan.

The adult teeth to replace the two teeth she lost at the end of Kindergarten are almost fully grown in now.  She still loves anything pink, and if I make her something that doesn’t have the required color, she pleasantly asks if I can make her another with pink.  While Hadley dances everywhere, Arden will skip to get across the room or down the road.  It cracks me up!

This is her first time starting a school year here in New Jersey and it is nice to begin the year where we expect to finish it.  Last year felt a bit unsettled even though she knew many of the kids at her school in Michigan from daycare.
