Hoppe Jumpsuit :: Puffins

I took a super quick break in the midst of pattern preparation to make this adorable Hoppe Jumpsuit for Hadley.  It’s newly released by An of Straight Grain in collaboration with Fabienne from 128.

Hoppe Flatlay

When I say quick, I really do mean quick.  I cut the pieces one day and when I sat down to sew the next I think it took less than an hour while supervising Arden and Hadley while they played in the basement near me.

The Hoppe Jumpsuit is for sizes 18m through 12 years, and includes two separate files for regular or skinny fit.  Basically the need to blend sizes for your slender kiddos is removed.  Hadley is pretty much dead on standards for size 6, so I made the regular fit.

There’s two views; View A with a diagonal pleat on the front that’s perfect for highlighting coordinating fabrics, or View B without the pleat.  This is View B, but I made the back out of a different fabric because I only had a fat half of the puffin fabric to work with.  There is also a halter option in addition to the tank straps.

There’s a front and back facing so no bands or binding to deal with on the bodice.  The back facing has an attached elastic to help the jumpsuit stay up without relying solely on the straps.  Hadley can pull this up and down for the bathroom without any help – the straps just slip down off her shoulders.

Hoppe 2

The puffins are from Bloome CHP provided by Emrose Fabrics.  It’s the parisian blue color way in organic cotton sweat (similar to French terry).  I was really excited to receive this fabric as I loved the cute geometric puffin print and the weight of the fabric is just perfect for this jumpsuit.  I have enough left to make Arden a pair of knit shorts that I hope to get done soon.

The striped fabric is from my stash and worked well for the back, straps, cuffs, facings and pockets.

Hoppe 4

Hadley really put the hop in Hoppe to the test playing hopscotch at the elementary school.  We go there with scooters and then play to get all the wiggles out.

      Thanks Bonnie. I’ve been making more things for Hadley lately since Arden and Hadley are in nearly the same size there isn’t as much need to make the larger size for hand me down purposes.
