All You Need Jammies

In all my sewing for Arden and Hadley I have not yet sewn pajamas or a nightgown!  Enter the All You Need Jammies by Heidi & Finn…

There are tons of options in this pattern, so it truly is all you need.  T-shirt, gathered shirt, nightgown, leggings, and lounge pants are all included.  Arden has been wanting a nightgown and I like the practicality of shorts or pants so you’re not sleeping with a gown around your armpits…  So the gathered shirt and leggings fit the bill nicely.

The pattern is for boys or girls and split into to size groups: 12m to 5T and 6-12Y OR as an inclusive size range for a bit more.  Both my girls are in the larger size range so I bought that version.

The fabrics I used for these jammies are all from Emrose Fabrics.  I had purchased the Geo Stars a while back during a sale, and I was provided the solid and cuff fabrics as a brand representative.  Emrose stocks a huge variety of amazing custom and European organic knits.  These fabrics are all stocked items, so there’s no waiting weeks or months for them to arrive.  There’s an active chat group on Facebook for Emrose Fabrics which is a great place to keep up to date on new products and projects made with Emrose fabrics.

The weight of the fabrics are perfection.  Look how nicely the cuff lays for the neckline, and the solid has an almost brushed feel to it – very cozy!

Sewing the All You Need Jammies was straightforward.  I made two small changes; one intentional and the other due to my not having 1″ elastic on hand.  The pattern piece for the skirt part of the gathered shirt is shaped like a trapezoid, which would cause an angle at the side seam at the hem.  As I cut the pieces, I eyeballed a sweeping curve beginning a little lower than the center front/back and meeting the side seam at a 90° angle.  Easy peasy.  For the elastic I simply substituted 3/4″ elastic instead.

Another change I’ll make next time I make them (and there will be a next time) is to make the sleeves slightly wider at the forearm.  Arden does not have big arms at all and these are pretty snug on her.  They are almost precisely the same fit as a pair of Carter’s jammies she has which seems to be the intended fit for this pattern.  Also I didn’t notice the cutting instructions to cut the sleeves 2″ shorter if adding cuffs, so I have extra long sleeves 😉

What would a pajama photo shoot be without a little jumping on the bed?  Arden was only too happy to oblige.
