Road to the Runway: Season 8!

If you’re coming over to visit from Project Run & Play, I’d like to take this opportunity to say “hello” and welcome to my little corner of this amazing creative community!

I thought I’d take a moment and share my journey to becoming a designer for this season.  As you read in my profile, I’ve been following Project Run & Play since the very beginning.  As time went on and there were auditions for spots, I started trying out.

I tried out for Season 6, and made a deal with myself that I would create looks for each of the challenges even if I didn’t make it as a contestant.  Obviously I didn’t make it or we wouldn’t be having this conversation now!  I did however, satisfy my bargain with myself and created the following six looks:

I was hooked!  And it was my submission for the Signature Style week which secured my status as a Sew Along winner and thus my spot in this season.

I’ve sewn along for a few other looks, but not an entire season again — until now!

I made another goal for myself as a contestant and that was to complete all four looks before the season began on January 14 so I could relax (as much as possible!).  I’m happy to say that I’m on track to finish in time!  I’ve completed the first three outfits and have only the Signature Style to finish up.

I. am. having. a. ball!  Thank you so much for coming along with me on this adventure!!

    Very smart strategy!!
Still in shock you are almost completely done with 3 of 4 looks.

I think it’s a few things – I’m pretty decisive, so when I figure out what I want I usually don’t stray from that much (definitely exceptions to this, though!), I work pretty well in small bursts so I can accomplish a lot when the girls are playing (a seam here, pinning there, or some hand sewing while they color at the kitchen table), and I’ve gotten used to not sleeping much (this one catches up with me eventually!). So there you have it – my secrets to productivity. Good luck and I can’t wait for Tuesday!

Right Jacq?? That is amazing! I’ve got bits and pieces finished, but only 1 total look done so far! So excited for this season and to be sharing it with you! (and you Jacq!)
