Easiest. Dress. Ever.

Okay, maybe not the easiest dress ever since my sewing machine wasn’t cooperating with my overcast foot. I wanted to finish the hem of the skirt a little nicer than raw edge and couldn’t find matching serger thread (and who wants to re-thread a serger anyway?).  I “made it work” and it’s finished now.

All Arden wants to wear lately are dresses.  I made several of them during the sew along for the last season of Project Run & Play, but a couple of those are special occasion and others aren’t “twirly” enough to make it into regular rotation.  So when I found a couple of long sleeve shirts on major clearance (another 30% off the price marked), I snapped them up and planned for some refashioning.

A little metallic pewter fabric paint for a faux collar and a simple circle skirt out of shimmery silver dancewear fabric and you’ve got yourself a dress in no time flat.  I used a stretch stitch to attach the skirt right along the stitching on the factory hem of the shirt.

Twirly?  Check.

She looks utterly and completely happy! Adorable dress! My daughter is very disappointed these days when she has to wear pants or her skirts don’t twirl enough… she would be thrilled with this.

    Super cute!

I am visiting you from Make It Wear It Thursday. This is so cute, I especially love the collar. My post is about planning your own Summer Sewing Camp to teach your own children to sew:
