Willow & Co. Glamping with Petit a Petit + Family

Today I get to continue the glamping fun and show you the details of the Ash playsuit I made for Hadley!

Glamping 5

Celina is also a friend of mine – we’re in a wonderful, supportive group together and it’s so amazing to get to see a glimpse into her creative mind!

Glamping 3

I made the playsuit version of the Ash, and the only modification I made was to cut the legs shorter by about 2″ so I could ogle Hadley’s little chubby legs for a while this summer before she sprouts up like a weed and gets spider legs like her sister.  This pattern has so many fun options – playsuit, jumpsuit, or separates with a couple of different hems.

You can’t see them because they blend into the floral print, but there’s even in-seam pockets on the playsuit.  Perfect for stashing rocks and nuts that she picks up on her adventures!

This fabric is rayon challis from Jo-Ann’s.  They have a pretty good selection of this type of fabric if you check out the red tag apparel section; all of my local stores carry it.  Challis is pretty easy to work with – it can be a little slippery while cutting, but sewing isn’t that much different from cotton except that it does have more stretch across the bias so you have to be careful not to distort it while pinning and sewing.

Glamping Ash Collage

Hadley was being quite the character during the photo shoot – she kept running and jumping around like a nutball and then rushing straight at me.  I was using my prime lens which means my legs are the zoom so I couldn’t react quickly enough to capture many of the shots.  Once she was a little more still picking flowers I was able to get a number of nice shots – so many that I couldn’t narrow them down any further and just tossed all of them into a collage for your viewing pleasure!

Glamping 12

I made a size 3T for Hadley based on her hip measurements.   I probably should have sized up since she still has a considerable toddler tummy, especially right after dinner!  (And the cutest outie belly button that I want to munch on all the time!)  Considering the size I selected, I think the fit is great, and likely this will fit for quite a while as she grows taller and slims a bit.

Glamping 11

I love seeing the expanse of her shoulders in this playsuit!  For as cool as this pattern is, the sewing isn’t tricky.  I think the most difficult part are the various facings/casings for the elastic and those were more finicky for me due to the fabric I used.  Celina gives great instructions for sewing and lots of tips and options to help you along the way.

Glamping 1

Have you enjoyed going glamping with Arden, Hadley, and Willow & Co.?  I sure have, and I can’t wait to make the rest of the patterns in the collection – I still have the Aster Cardigan, Elm Raincoat Poncho, Hawthorn Zip-up Sweatshirt, Kudzu Cargo Pants & Shorts, and the Mulberry Tunic.  I already made one Fawn Lily and plan to make more of that pattern.  Phew!  That’s a lot of great sewing!
