Plié Bag with Color Me Fabric for Quilt Market

I made this cute little bag as my project for the Color Me fabric line to send to Quilt Market.  I’m calling it the Plié Bag as it’s just the right size for toting ballet shoes and other dance gear to class.

Plie Bag 1

Hadley was my very willing model for these photos.  We haven’t enrolled the girls in dance class here in New Jersey, but we still have the gear from attending Miss Lore’s in Michigan.  Poor thing, she’s outgrown her slippers and I couldn’t find both shoes to Arden’s larger pair to borrow.

The bag is a pretty simple shape, actually borrowing similar lines to the bodice of my Satya Romper pattern.  I added small darts on the bottom curves to give it some volume inside…

… as well as a gusset on the bottom.  The handles are sturdy cotton webbing and I added a magnetic snap closure at the top.

I have the pattern all set to go, but need a little bit of time to get the instructions together.

The fabric, and the whole point of this project, is from the latest in Hayley from Welcome to the Mouse House‘s Color Me line with Michael Miller.  There’s a construction theme and ballet themed, each with a border print and an allover.  This is the ballerina border, and I lined it with the tippy toes allover print. Sorry, I forgot to get photos of the lining and I had it filled with some random stuff to help the bag look full like it would in use.

The girls are going to color it once it comes back from Quilt Market.

In addition to the ballet and construction themes, there are Halloween designs that should be shipping to stores soon and also four top secret designs that will be released after that.  Check Welcome to the Mouse House and Michael Miller‘s blog or Instagram to keep up with the latest!
