Indigo for Project Street Style

It’s here, it’s here!!  The latest designer collection for Project Run & Play has been released!  The overarching theme of this collection is Street Style.

There are seven great patterns in the collection, designed by six fabulous designers:

In keeping with the PR&P designer collaboration history, there’s a most wonderful lookbook for you to flip through to gain inspiration to fill your sewing queue!  Grab a cup of coffee and settle down for a flip through.  You’ll get to see spreads from each designer as well as promotional sewists and some of the testers.

I designed Indigo as my contribution to the collection.  I imagined a choose your own adventure style where all the different parts would work together to create seemingly endless combinations.  The lined bodice has a lowered V back which allows it to be stepped into.  From there, choose sleeveless, regular sleeve (in short, half, or long lengths), or floaty butterfly sleeve.  Then for the bottom half, 3/4 circle skirt in peplum or midi length in either gathered or fitted widths, a wide leg pant in cropped or full length, a bubble romper, or bummies.

The timeline was tight so I didn’t get to sew every option myself.  Thanks so much to all the amazing testers who made all the varieties to get everything just right!  This one was the original prototype I made for Hadley, which will be the base of her fairy Halloween costume.  In true fairy form, she chose the butterfly sleeves and the most twirly, flirty skirt I could create!  I left this unhemmed; it just seemed right for the look she wanted.  She’s sporting the bummies underneath, which makes for worry-free twirling.

We had some fun with this photo shoot by heading to a nearby train station.  With a theme of Street Style, we tried to play it up with location and accessories, like her sparkly Doc Martens!

I tried really hard to convince Arden to try one of the other options, but she was dead set on the gathered skirt – or whichever one would twirl the most!  Hawthorne Supply Co. provided these lovely fabrics to use.  These are from their in-house line, Bonjour Paris.  With their own production you can choose the substrate you prefer, this is the organic jersey knit and it is perfection!

The bodice fabric is A Day in Paris in Bastille and is so adorable with cute watercolor motifs accompanied by their French names.  Arden will be taking French later this year and she’s excited to learn another language.  She’s been learning Mandarin for the last four years, and this year she’ll cycle through Mandarin, French and Spanish to decide which she’ll continue with next year.

The skirt fabric is Bretagne Stripe in Dark French Blue.  This colorway was the obvious choice with a pattern named Indigo.  This photo shows that the twirl of this dress is no joke!

Here’s the amazing testers who helped bring Indigo to you.  They really had fun with the different options on this.  I can’t wait to see what you’ll make with Indigo and all the other patterns in the collection!

The patterns are on sale on the Project Run and Play shop for release week – grab the full collection for only $49 – this is an average of $7 per pattern, or 30% off the listed price.  Individual patterns are 20% off during the discount period.

Jennifer, I can’t get your navigation bar to work in order to find your email address. I love your craft table and would love to copy it!! Searching for “Galant” on Ikea’s site doesn’t bring up anything anymore. Would you please send me the dimensions of your tabletop? I can likely find it under another brand name. If you wouldn’t mind emailing me the answer, I would appreciate it. Not sure how I even got here, lol! Thanks!
