Project Lounge Library

The next collection from Project Run & Play is here and it is uniquely designed for our current state of quarantine and distance learning!  I designed two patterns for Project Lounge Library: the Journal Jumpsuit and Biography Bombigan.

The Journal Jumpsuit is a unisex pattern for children sized newborn to 14 years.  It pulls on through the neckline: either a lowered back neckline or a placket with or without a hood.  There are two pocket styles: a roomy kangaroo or square patch pockets at the side seams.  The jumpsuit can be made in three lengths: ankle, knee, or shortie.

The Biography Bombigan is also unisex for children sized newborn to 14 years.  BOMBer + cardIGAN = Bombigan!!  I mashed up the features of a slick Bomber style jacket with a cozy cardigan for this bombigan that’s perfect to throw on to be ready for the school day.  The main silhouette is a relaxed raglan with a curved back yoke.  Close with a button/snap placket, or a zipper for all those Mr. Rogers feels.  A curved collar and wide waistband with Bomber accents finishes the main style.  Add on an angled pocket and/or elbow patches to customize your Biography Bombigan.  *I had pockets cut and ready for this one and then I got carried away and sewed the waistband on – oops!!

I sewed as many patterns from the collection as I could, but with so many patterns offered in this collection, I didn’t quite make ALL of them.  But I got close!!

Arden is wearing the dress length of the Story pattern by Heidi of Elegance and Elephants.  I paired it with the Bookish Beanie designed by Audrey of Project Run & Play.  Hadley is in an Alice in top length by Julia of Bobbins & Buttons.  It looks so sweet with the Novella Pinafore also by Heidi of Elegance and Elephants.

Story is sized for kids sized 2 to 12 years and has top and dress lengths.  The dress has an optional kangaroo pocket.  The Bookish Beanie is for people of all sizes and ages – from newborn to large adult.  It’s reversible so you can fold back the brim for contrast or get two looks in one hat.

The mustard waffle knit for Arden’s Story Dress is from Raspberry Creek Fabrics, who sponsored most of the fabrics in this post.  The botanical print on the Bookish Beanie is from my stash.

Alice is for sizes 12 months to 13 years and has top and dress lengths.  You can make a top like I did, or a dress with pockets integrated into the ruffle seam.  Both can be made with sleeves or without.  The dress closes with a zipper and the top with a slit keyhole closed with a  button and loop.  I made a thread loop for mine to slip over the pretty pearl button I used.

Novella is for sizes 2 to 12 years.  This is the simple gathered skirt, and I also made the tiered skirt and there’s a straight skirt option as well.  It has a great pocket on the bib and an elastic back.

I made the Alice Top in dreamy rayon challis and the Novella Pinafore in a rich olive rayon linen.  Both fabrics from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.

Arden’s second outfit is the top length Story paired with the tiered Novella.

A Biography Bombigan kept her warm on a chilly autumn day.  The Story Top is made with super soft floral hacci and the Novella Pinafore is from a windowpane plaid, both again from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  The teal sweater knit and ribbing for the Biography Bombigan were from my stash.

Hadley’s final look has her ready for some bird watching, a hobby she took up shortly before the pandemic began.  Julia of Bobbins & Buttons designed the George Hoodie.  It is for sizes 12 months to 12 years.

And the Prose Cargo Pants by Audrey of Project Run & Play.  This pattern can be made in pants or shorts length, and the Poetry Skirt is also part of the pattern with the same fun pockets.  Sized for ages 1 to 16, it has 8 pockets packed into it – can you spot the secret “Napoleon” pocket?  I made the elastic cuffs, but you can also make them with a straight leg.

I made the George Hoodie in the softest ever mauve sweatshirt fleece.  Hadley wanted to sleep in this and she’s worn it every day since we took photos.  The Prose Pants are a lilac Ventana twill.  Both fabrics are from Raspberry Creek Fabrics.  I don’t see the yarn dyed modal spandex stripe I used for the hood lining, cuffs and waistband in the mauve, but there are other colors still available.

The look book is coming on Monday, so you’ll get to see more from the look book sewists, pattern testers and designers.  The patterns in the collection are on sale for the release – 20% off individual patterns, or you can get ALL the patterns for over 30% off by getting the whole collection.  These prices are good through November 30, no codes needed.
