Trail Tote Lunchbag

I do on occasion sew something that isn’t a. one of my patterns, b. for one of my girls, or c. crazy comfy Hudson Pants for me (post coming soon on those).  Dave turned the big four-oh in July and I promised to make him a bag to carry his lunch to work, and the Trail Tote Lunchbag was born!

The base pattern is the Trail Tote by Anna of Noodlehead, a free download from Robert Kaufman.  The modifications I made were mostly to leave off some of the features – no zippered pocket, and no magnetic snap.  I also changed the single adjustable strap to two shorter straps based on Hubby’s request.  I may be adding a tab with some kind of closure, but we’re going to see how it works like this for now.

The outer fabric is some upholstery fabric from Jo-Ann’s I had left over from the riding style jacket I made for Arden way back in Project Run & Play.  The lining is a fat quarter of Sun Prints by Andover, and the straps are webbing I got from the Ribbon Retreat.

The pattern has two sizes and this is the smaller of the two, chosen purely so I could squeak it out of the fat quarter I had.  For some reason, I don’t have a huge selection of masculine friendly fabrics in my stash?
