Project Smooth Sorbet Sewing

This is the post where I share ALLLL the details about the sewing I did for Project Run & Play’s latest pattern collaboration, Project Smooth Sorbet!  Raspberry Creek Fabrics provided me with a great big stack of fabrics for my sewing plans and they were perfection!  I even used some RCF fabrics that I had leftover from Project Watercolor Beach, so hang onto those remnants, friends!

I’ll start with the three looks I’ve already shared using the three patterns I contributed to the collection: Baie Blazer, Bacio Basic Tee and Limone Lounge Set.  Hadley is modeling the straight option of the Baie Blazer in salmon striped French terry* (*denotes affiliate link) and lined/faced with a coordinating pin dot cotton Spandex jersey*, both from their CLUB line.  The white Bacio Basic Tee is cotton Lycra jersey*, embellished with sorbet flavors ampersand heat transfer vinyl, one of the digital designs I contributed.  Her Limone Lounge Set shorts are lilac chambray* leftover from the Golden Dress I made for Project Watercolor Beach.  The Fetta Purse is from stash fabric quilting cotton.

This peplum Baie Blazer is in a lovely vibrant kelly green spandex French terry* and lined with the coordinating painted check gingham cotton Spandex jersey*.  The Bacio Basic Tee is made in coral cotton Lycra jersey* and I made the raw edge neckline using the white from the other tee I made.  The knee length Limone Lounge Set skirt is stash fabric and the first prototype I made so it’s a little bit shorter than the final pattern.

Arden is wearing a peplum Baie Blazer in seafoam Spandex French terry* that I had leftover from the Chromium Hoodie I made for Project Watercolor Beach.  Arden is wearing the same white Bacio Basic Tee that Hadley is wearing in the first shot.  They are nearly the same size, so some of the garments they’re wearing will end up on the other sibling after preferences shake out.  The maxi length Limone Lounge Set skirt with added side vents is in a lovely ocean teal blue rayon linen which is currently not listed in the shop.  I love this rayon linen, so whatever color you can get your hands on, get it!

Now for the rest of the patterns in the collection!!  Hadley practiced “popping” the collar on her Parfait Polo in shaped striped cotton Spandex jersey.  I used the solid white jersey for the collar.  The shorts are the Bacca Bootcuts in shorts length using hot pink stretch twill* that I hand embroidered rainbows onto the pockets.  Hadley loved that detail and was begging me to let her wear these ahead of the photo shoot!

Arden was feeling angelic in her light and floaty Fragola Top made out of floral lawn*.  Her Limone Lounge Set cropped pants are delightful in aqua seersucker*.

The other Fragola Top uses more of the ocean blue rayon linen from the maxi length skirt and paired with abstract squares print stretch crepe*.  This fabric had more body than the other, giving it a different feel.  She also has the Frutta Purse I made using stash fabric for the crown and strap, and leftover yellow linen from the Pantone Party.

Lastly is the David Raincoat that I made using this great striped boardshort fabric*.  This is the unlined version, but there is an expansion to make a lined coat.  I sealed the seams with fusible seam tape to waterproof them and then treated the finished jacket with wash-in waterproofing.

The only pattern in the collection that I wasn’t able to sew for this photo shoot was the Sorbetto Swimsuit pattern and that’s only because I had already planned my sewing and ordered fabric before the pattern was solidified in the collection.  Arden particularly likes swimsuits that cover her shoulders so I’ll be sewing this when I get a chance!

Be sure to follow along with Project Run & Play to see all the great makes from this collection and the look book coming next week!
